Dear members of FSAtom committee,
October is now close to us, hence it is time to think to the planned
FSAtom meeting, in conjunction with the tutorial and the workshop.
Remember, these have been accepted by CECAM, and will take place
8-10 October (tutorial) and 13-16 October (workshop).
You have (likely) received an invitation by the organisers
of the workshop.
Initially (one year ago), we imagined to have the meeting of FSAtom
on Saturday 11 or Sunday 12. However, as the event is coming closer,
I think that there will be some problem with such a choice :
- the Ecole Normale Superieure is not open on Saturday or Sunday,
so where would the meeting be ?
- most of the interested people will not attend the tutorial
(for obvious reasons, the tutorial is mostly attended by students),
so would likely prefer to arrive on sunday evening.
If you agree, I think that we should ask the organizers of the workshop
to have FSAtom discussions taking place some time during the workshop
(well, the organizers receive this mail, and can react, of course ;-)
After all, in the workshop advertisement,
some part of the workshop is dedicated to the Open Source idea.
I think one should have the following discussions/presentations :
- summary of the activities within FSAtom during one year (I should do it)
- summary of the activity of the pseudopotential work group
(I would suggest Karsten, or some other person that has been strongly
involved in the discussions)
- forum (with free exchange, suggestions, criticisms ... etc)
- decisions at the formal level (renewal of the committee, or stronger
changes, if people wish it)
Other presentations related to the Open Source idea or FSAtom,
might take place, of course, but this will likely be a minimum for FSAtom.
Please, could you react before this coming Thursday 4 September ?
Best regards,
Xavier
