I'm sorry, I cannot find the AX_PATH_GSL macro in the gsl.m4 file of GSL-1.9. Of course,
I can update the GSL to 1.10 on the BuildBots but than we should also depend on 1.10.
Actually, what do you think about simply including the library in external_libs? It is
GPL and via the vendor branch technique, it's not much work for us. We could set in
the configure.ac that we take the shipped version if no user specified on could be found.
Other codes, EXCITING or PWSCF, even include BLAS, LAPACK, and FFTW in their distribution, as
fallback if the user does not specify something different.
