[Octopus-users] problem with octopus 3.1.0 environment variable

Dear Octopus users!
I had the following problem when installing octopus-3.1.0 (compiled with gfortran-4.2 on ubuntu 8.04). After completing "make install" step I couldn't start octopus from command-line (command not found). The only way to make it work was to write manually into .bashrc

 alias octopus=/opt/etsf/bin/octopus

Then it worked.
Certainly, I have solved this problem for myself by aliasing all binaries. But weren't more useful if octopus could do this registration work itself, as in previous 3.0.1 version, where everything worked fine? I don't know whether this feature was excluded from this release or simply doesn't work correctly.
In addition, with the new input file format, the folder "samples" contains now incorrect input files, which may be misleading. Is it more useful to remove this folder at all from the release?
I hope this might help in the improvement of octopus.
Best regards. Pavel Redkin.
